Mistakes made at the ordering stage
These happen in the first five minutes, before Esgobuy has bought anything — which is exactly why they're the easiest to prevent.
1 · Pasting a dead or wrong link
Chinese listings vanish and get re-uploaded under a new URL all the time, and a single link can hide dozens of colours and sizes behind one photo. Paste a stale link and the agent either can't buy it or buys the wrong variant.
The fix: copy the link straight from the spreadsheet on the day you order, open it yourself to check it still loads, then add the exact size, colour and a reference screenshot in the DIY Order note so staff match your intent, not a guess.
2 · Guessing the size
Picking “L” because you wear L at home is the classic reason a parcel arrives unwearable. Chinese apparel is frequently cut smaller, and shoe sizing shifts between brands.
The fix: read the seller's measurement chart in centimetres — chest, length, insole — and compare against a garment you already own. If a listing has no chart, you can ask Esgobuy staff to measure the item during QC before it ships.
3 · Ordering restricted goods
Loose batteries, liquids, aerosols, strong magnets and some branded items are limited or refused on certain international lines. Discovering this only at the shipping step means repacking or abandoning the item.
The fix: before you commit, skim the entry/exit article rules and the restrictions on the shipping lines available to your country. If an item is borderline, plan to send it in its own parcel on a line that accepts it.
4 · Payment and currency confusion
Prices show in Chinese yuan and convert at checkout, so the number on your card statement won't match the listing exactly — and you pay in more than one stage, which surprises people who expect a single charge.
The fix: expect item cost plus domestic shipping up front, and international freight after QC. Card networks add their own exchange rate and fees, so treat the listing price as an estimate, not a final total.

Your item is safely in China now. This is your window to catch problems — and the moment most savings are won or lost.
5 · Rubber-stamping the QC photos
The whole reason to use an agent is the inspection step, yet it's tempting to approve on autopilot to get the item moving. A blurry glance won't catch a wrong logo, a flaw in the stitching or the wrong colourway.
The fix: open the full QC gallery, zoom in on the details that matter for that product, and compare them to the listing. If something's off, raise it through Esgobuy's after-sales service before paying international shipping — a swap or refund is far simpler while the item hasn't left the country.
6 · Shipping parcels one by one
Sending each purchase out on its own is the quiet budget-killer. International freight is priced on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so several small boxes almost always cost more than one combined parcel.

7 · Missing the free-storage deadline
The free storage window that lets you consolidate isn't unlimited. Forget about a parcel and you can run into storage charges — or, eventually, disposal of unclaimed goods.
The fix: note when each item was checked in and the current storage period shown in your account, and ship before it ends. Don't stretch a haul across so many weeks that early items age out.
8 · Ignoring customs and tax at home
The shipping quote isn't always the last cost. Your own country decides duty and VAT, and EU postal and tariff rules in particular have been changing, so the cheapest line today may not be offered tomorrow.
